It's official since ASO unveiled the route: Pontorson (50170) will be a Tour de France stage town for the first time in its history. On Wednesday 7 July 2027, stage 5 sets off from the town at the gates of Mont Saint-Michel towards Plumelec in Brittany — 178 kilometres presented as a tribute to the Mont. Domaine des Figuiers in Servon is 5 minutes from Pontorson: front-row seats for the start-day festivities.
After the Grand Départ in Edinburgh on 2 July and three British stages, the Tour crosses the Channel: rest day in Cherbourg on 5 July, stage 4 looping around Cherbourg-en-Cotentin on the 6th, then stage 5 departs Pontorson on Wednesday 7 July, bound for Plumelec and its Breton roads. Race director Christian Prudhomme presented it as a nod to Mont Saint-Michel — expect spectacular images of the bay broadcast worldwide.
A stage start is a morning-long party: the publicity caravan, the start village, rider presentations and then the peloton rolling out. Pontorson will announce its programme closer to the event. A seasoned fan's tip: arrive early — roads around the town close hours before the start, which is exactly why sleeping nearby beats driving in on the day.
Domaine des Figuiers is in Servon, 5 minutes from Pontorson — reach the start village in minutes, by bike or on foot along quiet lanes, while day-trippers hunt for parking.
